Songwriting Director - Guy Dupree

Singer / Songwriter / Performer / Guitarist / Entrepreneur / Philanthropist

From a $10 guitar purchased at a pawn shop by his musical inspiration, and beloved father, William Eason Dupree, to winning the 4th grade talent show at elementary school singing & playing the same guitar & from Atlanta ALL the way to the brightest lights of Nashville, the passion of Eason Guy Dupree for his music and songwriting has always been a driving force in his life.
The “Musical Apple” didn’t fall far from the tree as Guy and his brother Steve fronted bands touring the Southeast in the 1960’s along with their father, Eason, who had been in the musical spotlight since the 50’s with his band’s music regularly broadcast on radio from East Pointe, GA. Guy continued honing his songwriting craft well into the 70’s performing his original songs as a single entertainer at bars in Conyers, GA. where he met accomplished and acclaimed songwriter Louis Brown who, after hearing a set of covers and original songs, came up and asked Guy to meet him at a gathering of creatives at the Atlanta Songwriter’s Association (A.S.A.) founded in 1978, which he subsequently joined and eventually became an integral part of as Vice-President.
This was a pivotal moment for Guy as he had been balancing his musical dreams with the reality of making a living to support those dreams by building up a cattle ranch from scratch in Social Circle, GA and running it for 16 years where he interestingly met Kenny Rogers and the band Alabama thus trading cattle & music with them while at he also founded what would become the award winning Superior Graphic Finishing company where he still presides today as CEO and President. Mr. Dupree continued his music aspirations wherever the muse took him which was not only in the the environment of other songwriters in Atlanta with A.S.A., but also in Nashville where he rented an apartment and began playing three days a week at open mic nights in the evenings and during the day pitching his songs to publishers all the while studying, communing and creating with some of Nashville’s most esteemed songwriters at the Nashville Songwriters Association. In the mid 90’s, The Atlanta Songwriters Association which Guy was still deeply tied to branched out to become the Georgia Music Industry Association, Inc (GMIA) which, by the way, will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2028 !!
Guy Dupree has come from Social Circle to FULL CIRCLE today as he sits on the Board of The Georgia Music Industry Association, Inc (GMIA) as a voting member with the the title of “Songwriting Director”. Mr. Dupree is also very deeply involved with his philanthropic commitments supporting the mission of “Autism Enlightenment” where he serves on the Board as Vice-President of the DELVISings For Autism Change Foundation, Inc.
Eason Guy Dupree has always been blessed with extraordinary love and support from his many friends and family including his adult daughters, Tina and Jill and their families. Guy happily resides with his lovely wife Maria in Alpharetta, GA .
